Lent: 40 Days W/O Facebook

For a while now I have been wanting to take a break from Facebook.  I rarely post.  Sure,  I give the occasional comment, but more likely just a lazy 'like.'  Here is the deal.  I like  FB. I like getting to see what is going on with my fam and friends.  I like getting to see old friends.  But what I don't like is how I use it as a distraction from what is going on in my life.  What I should be paying attention to....like ummmm....my kids. Checking FB too often makes me feel like...well... a loser.  As if my life isn't full enough I need to check out and see what is going on in other peeps' worlds.    So in the season of Lent I have decided to take a 40 day break from FB.  Sure I'll miss seeing pictures of vacations, hearing what people are having for dinner, and funny things that my friends' kids say, but I feel like my brain needs a break.  I have read enough science journals listened to enough NPR to hear about how this 'always connected' life is changing our brains.  So I am going to give this little brain a break.

Along with helping me not feel like a loser and keeping my brain from being forever changed thanks to checking FB, I like the idea of preparing for Easter.  Yes, The meaning of Lent is 40 days to prepare believers through prayer, penance, repentance, and self-denial for the observance of Easter.

I lack will power to give up sugar, grown up drinks, coffee, or other things like this.  So good luck to all the really brave people this Lent season.

On a more fun note...here is a sneak peak of the 'look' for the office/playroom/guest room....
